Abstract

This thesis is an attempt to describe, model and analyse the problems that German machine tool manufacturers face when implementing a modular bundling and bundle pricing strategy. The subproblems of designing the functions of a machine tool into several modules that can then be standardized, of combining these modules to bundles, i.e., machine tools, such that the customer gets almost exactly what he wants, of pricing these machine tools optimally and of dealing with uncertain demand data, have been isolated and formulated as mixed-integer linear programs.
