„I make extensive use of a geometrical presentation in which random variables are represented by vectors. The length of vectors equals the standard deviation of the random variable represented, and the cosine of the angle between two vectors equals the correlation coefficient between the two corresponding random variables… The geometry is represented in the main text of the paper as nothing more than a convenient pictorial representation, which gives useful insights into both standard and new results… I believe that once the style of the argument becomes familiar, the geometrical arguments made in this paper, are much more transparent than equivalent arguments made by matrix manipulation, where the results are apt to pop out, like rabbits from a hat, without giving much feel for how they got there“ Bray (1994), S.6f.
