Die Theorie sozialer Schließung

Zusammenfassung

Positionaler Wettbewerb um Bildungszertifikate und Arbeitsplätze ist ein wichtiges Feld soziologischer Forschung. Allerdings ist der Einfluss ökonomischer Globalisierung auf den Wettstreit um die Sicherung des Lebensunterhaltes bisher nur unzureichend untersucht worden. Hierbei handelt es sich jedoch um eine wichtige Frage für die soziologische Analyse, da Mitte-Links Modernisierer wie New Labour in Großbritannien und die Demokratische Partei in den Vereinigten Staaten davon ausgehen, dass Globalisierung den Charakter des positionalen Klassenkonflikts verändert hat. Sie behaupten, dass mittlerweile das absolute Bildungsniveau entscheidend sei, und nicht mehr die relative Position, die über Bildungszertifikate Verfügende auf lokalen oder nationalen Arbeitsmärkten einnehmen. Auf der Grundlage neo-weberianischer Schließungstheorien geht dieser Aufsatz davon aus, dass ein großer Teil dessen, was sich die Modernisierer unter dem globalen Arbeitsmarkt und seinem Einfluss auf positionalen Klassenkonflikt vorstellen, falsch ist. Ferner wird behauptet, dass die existierenden Formen der Schließungstheorie unzureichend sind und zur positionalen Konflikttheorie, wie wir sie nennen, weiterentwickelt werden müssen.
