Zusammenfassung
Die Wiedervereinigungswahl 1990 hatte für den individuellen Wähler insbesondere Ostdeutschlands in einem Kontext extremer Informationsunsicherheit stattgefunden. Zusammenhänge zwischen spezifischen (wirtschafts-)politischen Instrumenten und dem Erfolg des Projekts Wiedervereinigung waren selbst für Fachleute nur schwer abschätzbar. Gleichfalls waren für die Parteien und ihre Kandidaten die Reaktionen der Wähler kaum abzusehen. Für die Wähler repräsentierte die B undestagswahl 1994 in dieser Perspektive die erste Möglichkeit, aufgrund der in der vergangenen Legislaturperiode vermittelten Erfahrungswerte die Regierungsleistung im Bereich der Vereinigung zu bewerten und damit zu einer “informationsreicheren” Wahlentscheidung zu kommen.
