Zusammenfassung
Als Ergebnis eines komplexen historischen Prozesses entstanden im amerikanischen Teamsport einige erstaunlich robuste Bausteine der Ligaorganisation.
Die Kernhypothese des Aufsatzes besagt, dass sich gerade diese und nicht andere Bausteine der Ligaorganisation durchgesetzt haben, weil sie für ihre Anwender Effizienzvorteile generieren.
Management von Teameffekten, Schutz spezifischer Investitionen und Bewirtschaftung „nationaler Zuschauerschaften“ sind relevante Ansatzpunkte einer Ökonomie „hinter“ diesen Institutionen.
