Zusammenfassung

Dass die Wirtschafts- und Währungsunion (WWU) zu tiefgreifenden Veränderungen in den Mitgliedstaaten führt, ist inzwischen eine Binsenweisheit (Cobham/Zis 1999). In diesem Kapitel soll nun geprüft werden, welche Veränderungen die WWU bewirkt, auf welche Weise diese erreicht werden und wer von ihnen betroffen ist. Die Antworten auf diese Fragen sollen zeigen, wie und in welchem Maße die WWU die Staaten der EU „europäisiert“.

Dieses Kapitel stiitzt sich auf eine durch die British Academy geförderte Forschungsarbeit für das vom Autor herausgegebene Buch „European States and EMU“ (Oxford University Press, 2001).
