Zusammenfassung
Fluggeräte dienen dem Transport von Passagieren, Waren oder Instrumenten. Man kann sie einteilen in solche, die am Erdboden leichter als Luft sind (Luftschiff, Ballon) und sich infolge ihres archimedischen Auftriebs von selbst in die freie Atmosphäre erheben können, und in Fluggeräte, die schwerer als Luft sind (Flugzeug, Geschoß) und zum Abheben und Fliegen einen einmaligen Impuls oder dauernden Antrieb benötigen. Nur mit den letzten wollen wir uns hier beschäftigen, jedoch sogleich die Kategorie der Schraubenflugzeuge (Hubschrauber u. ä.) als umfangreiches Spezialgebiet absondern.
