Abstract
A photoacoustic (PA) cell is described, which can be used in combination with a standard optical cryostat for variable temperatures. The PA cell consists of a sample and a microphone chamber which are separated by a cylindrical tube. The frequency dependence and the temperature variation of the PA amplitude and of the PA phase angle from a graphite sample have been studied in the range 35Hz < v < 800Hz and 5K < T < 300K, respectively. The results are discussed in the context of the extended Helmholtz resonator model.
