Abstract
The Consultation Bureau Heart Project in The Netherlands (CB Heart Project) started on March 15, 1973, after an initial trial-run of 6 months. This community project on risk factor modification has three main objectives:
-
to study the possibility of implementing a screening programme for risk factors of coronary heart disease (CHD) in the consultation bureaus for tuberculosis: feasibility study;
-
to measure risk factors of CHD in persons belonging to selected population groups in order to assess both the individual and the epidemiological risk pattern: screening project;
-
to examine to what extent `elevated’ risk factors can be lowered by dietetic and hygienic instructions by a specialized team: intervention study.
