Abstract

PBX technology has dominated voice communication for a long time. With the emerging of alternative solutions for voice transportation, e.g. using packet / cell oriented data networks for voice and video transportation as well, there is a chance for real convergence of the two technologies:

  • Use of one single infrastructure for all transport.

  • Use of one single SW infrastructure for PBX functionality as well as features and applications.
