Abstract
Today’s fast developing construction industry depends increasingly on effective and reliable plant and equipment, both on the site and in the workshop. To meet these requirements, designers and manufacturers have already gone a long way in producing greatly improved machinery, but there still remains much scope for further improvements. Far too frequently, inclement weather forces some site plant to a standstill, thereby reducing its profitability, and this is certainly one of the foremost problems facing designers, manufacturers and contractors. Plant involves contractors in a great deal of initial capital expenditure, therefore it is essential that the best possible use should be made of it.
