Abstract

To a great extent electronic processes in polar crystals are accompanied by phonon excitations. In addition, pure phonon processes are important for electric and thermal conduction, light absorption and emission, etc. Both the corresponding transition probabilities and the corresponding energy conservation depend very sensitively on the various phonon configurations involved. Hence a detailed investigation of phonon states is indispensible.
