Zusammenfassung
Die Simulation betrieblicher Teilsysteme, vorzugsweise diejenige mit Hilfe der Monte-Carlo-Methode, zählt bereits zum Standardinstrumentarium des Operations Research. Dagegen sind Modelle zur Simulation ganzer Unternehmungen oder zumindest mehrerer zusammenhängender Unternehmungsbereiche immer noch selten. Das Konzept der Simulation ganzer Unternehmungen konnte erst reale Bedeutung gewinnen, als leistungsfähige Computer den Zeitaufwand und die Kosten für die experimentelle Auswertung von Hunderten von Gleichungen und logischen Verzweigungen in überschaubare Größenordnungen rückten. Die theoretische Fundierung, die empirische Forschungsarbeit und die Modellkonstruktion erfordern aber immer noch ein zeitliches Engagement, das sich nach Jahren bemißt und dementsprechende Kosten verursachte). Finanzielle Überlegungen spielen also bei Simulationsmodellen eine wesentlich größere Rolle als beim Einsatz anderer Forschungsinstrumente. Die Langwierigkeit umfassender Simulationsstudien legt außerdem die Vermutung nahe, daß Untersuchungen im Gange sind, über die bisher noch keine Angaben veröffentlicht wurden.
