Lp(a) distribution in the Dresden population. The DRECAN-study

Lp(a)-Verteilung in der Dresdener Bevölkerung — DRECAN-Studie

  • Chapter
Diätetik und Arteriosklerose

Abstract

The programm of the DRECAN-Study includes the measurement of Lp(a) serum concentration by rocket electrophoresis. 2 953 results between 0 and 2 816 mg/I were obtained. Of these 82.4 % remained below 250 mg/I. The median, minimum and maximum in the female subgroup did not differ from those of men or of the whole population. In females over 40 years of age the Lp(a) serum concentration correlated with age.

Isolated mild hypertriglyceridemia is associated with low levels of Lp(a), whereas in pronounced hypercholesterolemia the percentage of elevated Lp(a) concentrations is high
