Zusammenfassung

Seit der Einführung einer Reihe von gut reproduzierbaren und sehr exakten radioimmunologischen Verfahren zum CEA-Nachweis,die eine CEA-Bestimmung bis in den Nanogramm-Be= reich erlauben,sind eine Reihe von Studien über den CEA-Gehalt von verschiedenen Geweben und von Seren bzw. Plasmen von Patienten mit unterschiedlichen benignen und malignen Erkrankungen erschienen.Insofern mußte die in der Anfangs= zeit bestehende Auffassung,es handele sich bei dem carcinoembryonalen Antigen um ein„spezifisches Antigen“ der Tumoren des Gastrointestinaltraktes (26),verlassen werden.Die Stu= dien hatten nämlich gezeigt,daß CEA in nahezu allen mensch= lichen Geweben,Sekreten und Körperflüssigkeiten bei ver= schiedenen benignen und malignen Erkrankungen der unterschied= lichsten Organe nachweisbar ist,wie der Erstbeschreiber GOLD 1978 (9) in einer Übersichtsarbeit selbst feststellt.
