Abstract
This work is based mainly on investigations of the dependence on metabolism of the cochlear potentials of birds (Necker, 1970), and of Caiman (Kâuffmann and Schwartzkopff, 1971; Kauffmann, 1974). The inner ears of these representatives of the group of sauropsids are very similar to each other (Retzius, 1884).
Supported by Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft Schwerpunktprogramm “Rezeptor-physiologie” (grant to J. Schwartzkopff).
