Zusammenfassung

Im Kontrast zur europäischen Kultur der Bewährung zeigen die aktuellen politischen Vorgänge in der Islamischen Republik Iran das Weiterleben einer religiöspolitischen Kultur, in dem gerade die Inszenierung des Scheiterns die politische Wirksamkeit zu steigern vermag. In geradezu idealtypischer Weise wird das an dem aufiehenerregenden Fall des Geistlichen, Politikers und Publizisten Abdollah Nuri deutlich, der im Herbst 1998 vor einem Teheraner Gericht verhandelt wurde und sich zu einer Aufführung des schiitischen Märtyrerkults entwickelte. Ohne Berücksichtigung dieser religiös-mythischen Tradition bliebe das aktuelle politische Geschehen in Iran unverständlich.

Dieser Aufsatz ist in so enger Zusammenarbeit mit Katajun Amirpur entstanden, daß sie eigendich hatte als Mitautorin genannt werden miissen; da es sich aber bei der Albeit so ergeben hat, daß der Text selbst im wesendichen von mirformuliertworden ist, hatsiedaraufbestanden, die Autorenschaftmiralleinzukommen zu lassen. So bleibt mir nur, ihr für ihre Großzügigkeit und die vielen Anregungen und Hinweise zu danken.
