Abstract

This is a summary of the motivations and plans for and the status of JULIA, a proposed multidisciplinary underwater laboratory. The concept of JULIA allows for progress in Physics and Astrophysics, Oceanscience, Geology, Environmental studies as well as Detector-Development, Informationtechnology and Computer-Aided System Design and Surveillance.
