Zusammenfassung

In diesem Beitrag soll ein mit Beispielen angereicherter Überblick über die Rolle von Theorien rationalen Handelns in der akademischen Disziplin Internationale Beziehungen vermittelt werden. Unterschiedliche Verwendungen der Theorien rationalen Handelns werden diskutiert und jeweils anhand eines Beispiels illustriert. Das Ziel ist es nicht, eine Generalkritik an solchen Ansätzen vorzutragen und mithin zu argumentieren, daß sie einen Holzweg für die Theoriebildung in den Internationalen Beziehungen darstellen. Das Ziel des Beitrags besteht auch nicht darin, die Theorien des rationalen Handelns, oder eine spezifische Variante davon, zum Königsweg der Theoriebildung in den Internationalen Beziehungen zu erheben. Wir wollen vielmehr versuchen, einen einigermaßen ausgewogenen Überblick zu geben, der eine schnelle und übersichtliche Information über die Verwendung der Theorien des rationalen Handelns in den Internationalen Beziehungen ermöglicht.
