Summary
A numerical computation for 3-D unsteady incompressible flow in a driven cavity is performed using a finite volume approach via PHOENICS code on a IBM RS6000/530 work station. The Reynolds number for the simulation is 3200. The computed flow is smooth, due to the artificial viscosity introduced by the code, but significant well-formed three dimensional structures, like the Taylor-Görtler-like longitudinal vortices, appear during the time evolution.
