Shoulder Arthroscopy

Abstract

Suture management is a fundamental step in the learning curve of a young shoulder arthroscopist. Whether the surgeon is in the subacromial space for a rotator cuff repair or in the glenohumeral joint to address injuries related to shoulder instability, the problem will always be the same: too many sutures in too little space. Suture configuration, type, and even suture passers can vary according to the type of lesion and the preferred surgical technique. However, there are some basic rules that cannot be missed in order not to get lost! The aim of this chapter is to provide the fundamental steps on how to manage sutures during basic arthroscopic procedures such as a standard rotator cuff repair or Bankart stabilization.
