360° Around Shoulder Instability

Abstract

This article brings historical development of the understanding of anterior shoulder instability from ancient times to now. Treatment methods have been sometimes drastic, according to the knowledge of anatomy at the time. First anatomic explanation of the problem has been brought by Bankart in 1923, and since then “the modern era” of the shoulder started. Surgical methods have been developed. The second turn of the history was the introducing of arthroscopy which has rapidly led to ingenious solutions, and now only the sky is the limit.
