Zusammenfassung

Die Theorie der Nischenkonstruktion ist eine weitere moderne Theorie, die Evolution aus einer neuen Perspektive betrachtet. Seit 1988 bezeichnet der heute emeritierte Oxforder Evolutionsbiologe John Odling-Smee mit dem von ihm eingeführten Begriff Nischenkonstruktion einen Prozess, bei dem eine Spezies ihre Umwelt ursächlich und nicht zufällig verändert. Die Nischenkonstruktionstheorie ist eine der Säulen der Erweiterten Synthese der Evolutionstheorie (Kap. 6).
