Zusammenfassung
In den letzten Jahrzehnten hat sich die Arktis dramatisch verändert. Wo das Meer einst das ganze Jahr über mit einer dicken Schicht aus mehrjährigem Eis bedeckt war, erstreckt sich nun im Sommer offenes Wasser fast bis zum Nordpol. Zugleich nahm die Dicke des Meereises um 43 % ab, was es noch anfälliger für die Klimaerwärmung macht. Es dauert wahrscheinlich nicht mehr lange, bis das Meereis im Sommer vollständig verschwindet, was dramatische Folgen haben wird.
