Zusammenfassung
Die Infektion ist die häufigste Komplikation eines Portsystems und kann für den Patienten neben Antibiotikaeinnahme und Portexplantation auch Intensivpflichtigkeit bedeuten und lebensbedrohlich sein. Dies verdeutlicht den hohen Stellenwert der Hygiene im Umgang mit dem Port. Eine Desinfektion kann nur in Verbindung mit allen anderen geeigneten Hygienemaßnahmen zum Erfolg führen. Grundlage für die Hygiene im Umgang mit Ports ist die sogenannte Standard- oder Basishygiene. Diese beinhaltet die Händehygiene, die Schutzausrüstung, das Verhalten beim Husten, Niesen und Schnäuzen, die Reinigung/Desinfektion der Patientenumgebung, die korrekte Aufbereitung und die sichere Injektionstechnik.
