Eine differenzierte Beschreibung der gängigen statistischen Verfahren geht über den Rahmen dieses Buches hinaus. Hierzu sind statistische Fachbücher notwendig (z. B. Quinn und Keough 2002; Köhler et al. 2012; Crawley 2013; Zar 2013; Wollschläger 2016). In der Verhaltensbiologie ist ein sehr gutes Verständnis im Umgang mit Daten und deren statistischer Auswertung unumgänglich.
