Abstract

Ranges of numbers are known from mathematics and physics (Euler’s Number Plane, Hilbert Space). Numbers are assigned symbols: 1 for “one”, 15 for “fifteen”. Symbols represent number values. One can distinguish between value ranges and symbol ranges. In our decimal system symbol and value ranges coincide. For the character or symbol ranges in computers matters are different:
