Zusammenfassung
Verfahren, die zunächst nicht Bestandteil der wissenschaftlichen Medizin sind, wurden schon immer, insbesondere bei schweren Erkrankungen, von Betroffenen genutzt. Diese haben in den letzten 10–20 Jahren weiter an Bedeutung zugenommen. Dabei werden die Begriffe „alternative Medizin“, „komplementäre Therapien“, „Naturheilkunde“, „biologische Behandlung“ von Erkrankten bzw. deren Angehörigen oft synonym gebraucht, was natürlich zu Missverständnissen führen kann, v. a. dann, wenn besondere Therapieverfahren wie Anthroposophie oder Homöopathie und auch außereuropäische Verfahren ebenfalls damit gemeint werden.
