Abstract

In order to understand the characteristics of social adaptation of 2–3-year olds, this study used the structured observation method, 124 children aged 2–3 years old and their parents in Beijing were selected as research subjects. In three situations, features of unfamiliar environment adaptation, stranger adaptation, peer interaction adaptation and behavior regulation adaptation of children were studied. The results showed that the children’s social adaptation scores were in the upper middle level, the stranger environmental adaptation score was the highest, and the peer association adaptation score was the lowest. With 30 months as the cut-off point, the social adaptability of children aged 2.5–3 years is better than that of children aged 2–2.5 years old. Children’s social adaptability increases with age, and there is no significant gender difference in their social adaptation.
