Zusammenfassung

Beim ARDS („acute respiratory distress syndrome“) handelt es sich um ein entzündliches Syndrom der Lunge mit Schädigung der alveokapillären Membranen, das durch unterschiedliche Noxen verursacht werden kann. Im Mittelpunkt der Behandlung steht die maschinelle Beatmung mit PEEP. Die Letalität des schweren ARDS ist nach wie vor sehr hoch.
