Zusammenfassung
Die Endoprothetik der großen Gelenke wie Hüfte und Knie sind seit Jahren etablierte und anerkannte Behandlungsoptionen zur Erhaltung der Beweglichkeit. Die Endoprothetik des Handgelenkes hingegen ist bis dato nicht unumstritten und gilt als recht „junge“ Therapieoption. Sie bleibt bis dato eine Ausnahmeindikation für Fälle in denen lediglich noch eine Handgelenkversteifung als Option in Frage kommt, der Patient aber eine Erhaltung der Beweglichkeit im Handgelenk wünscht. Die Indikation sollte immer individuell gestellt werden und der Patient auch über ein mögliches Versagen der Prothese mit konsekutiver Einsteifung aufgeklärt werden. Bei korrekter Indikationsstellung und Implantation sind Standzeiten von 10 Jahren und mehr möglich. Der Operateur sollte über viel Erfahrung in der Handgelenkchirurgie verfügen, es ist keine Anfängeroperation!
