Zusammenfassung
Die Analyse der genetischen Variabilität und der Evolution auf der molekularen Ebene setzt voraus, dass wir DNA- und Proteinsequenzen innerhalb einer Population (derselben Spezies) und zwischen verschiedenen Spezies vergleichen. In Abschn. 1.2.3 haben wir bereits gelernt, wie man DNA-Sequenzen innerhalb einer Population vergleicht und daraus die genetische Variabilität einer Population mittels einer Stichprobe schätzt. In diesem Kapitel beschreiben wir zunächst, wie man die Divergenz von homologen DNA-Sequenzen zwischen verschiedenen Spezies bestimmen kann. Dies liefert uns neben der intraspezifischen Variabilität zusätzliche Informationen. Mithilfe beider Beobachtungen (intraspezifische Variation und interspezifische Divergenz) können wir dann die Neutralitätstheorien der molekularen Evolution formulieren. Am Ende des Kapitels führen wir statistische Verfahren ein, um die Neutralitätstheorien mithilfe von Daten über die intraspezifische Variation und die interspezifische Divergenz zu testen.
