Zusammenfassung
Dysfunktionales Management beginnt bei einzelnen Fehlern, die Managern hin und wieder unterlaufen und eskaliert bis hin zum vollständigen Scheitern der Akteure, wenn diese Fehler in systematischer Weise immer wieder auftreten und dabei viele oder sogar alle Arbeitsfelder betreffen. Je nach Position des Managers reichen die negativen Konsequenzen weit über die eigene Person hinaus. Sie betreffen die Zusammenarbeit mit anderen Menschen, die Sicherheit von Arbeitsplätzen und bisweilen sogar das Überleben ganzer Unternehmen. Die Indikatoren für dysfunktionales Management sind dabei vielfältig. Sie zeigen sich zunächst im direkten Verhalten der Manager – beispielsweise in unbeabsichtigten Fehlentscheidungen oder absichtsvollen kriminellen Handlungen. Mittelbar spiegelt sich dysfunktionales Management aber auch in der Arbeitszufriedenheit der Belegschaft, der Fluktuation oder der Kundenzufriedenheit. Die Ursachen liegen sowohl in der Person der Manager (Intelligenz, Persönlichkeit, Fachlichkeit etc.) als auch in ungünstigen Merkmalen ihrer Arbeitsumwelt (Überlastung, willfährige Mitarbeiter, mangelnde Kontrolle etc.)
