Zusammenfassung
Was ist überhaupt eine Emotion und wie entsteht sie? Auf den ersten Blick erscheint diese Frage für therapeutisch tätige Personen überraschend und die Antwort darauf einfach, da Alle bei der Therapie emotionaler Auffälligkeiten bei unterschiedlichen PatientInnen automatisch mit einem impliziten Konzept, was eine Emotion ist und sie bedingt, arbeiten und entsprechend eine meist einfache Erklärung parat haben. Dagegen sind diese Fragen in der Emotionsforschung nicht eindeutig geklärt (s. Fox et al. 2018). Im Unterschied zu basalen kognitiven Funktionen, wie Wahrnehmung, Gedächtnis, exekutive Funktionen, sind gerade emotionale Prozesse objektiv schwerer zu erfassen und einzuordnen, was unter anderem zu vielen widersprüchlichen Positionen beiträgt und die ganze Emotionsforschung bruchstückhaft sowie konfus macht (Adolphs und Anderson 2018). Hinzu kommt, dass die Befunde aus der neurowissenschaftlichen Forschung insbesondere im letzten Jahrzehnt exponentiell gestiegen sind und die möglichen Antworten auf diese Fragen noch komplexer machen als sie bereits sind. Gerade für eine neuropsychologisch fundierte Therapie emotionaler Auffälligkeiten ist es unabdingbar, auf diese neurowissenschaftlichen Befunde Bezug zu nehmen und sie vor allem in ein praktikables, somit notgedrungen vereinfachtes Therapiekonzept zu integrieren. Deutlich erschwerend für den vorliegenden Beitrag kommt jedoch hinzu, dass es derzeit (nach Kenntnis des Autors) kein neuropsychologisches Behandlungskonzept bzw. -manual für die Therapie emotionaler Auffälligkeiten gibt. Entsprechend sind die folgenden Ausführungen stärker als andere „Praxis“-Kapitel in diesem Buch von theoretischen Überlegungen geprägt. Angesichts der Fülle an unterschiedlichen Emotionstheorien und der kaum überschaubaren Anzahl wissenschaftlicher Befunde ist sowohl eine umfassende Darstellung als auch eine prägnante Zusammenfassung der wichtigsten Grundlagen bzw. Konzepte von Emotionen in diesem Beitrag nicht leistbar. Entsprechend kann nur eine Selektion wichtiger bzw. innovativer Emotionskonzepte erfolgen, welche aus Sicht eines Praktikers von besonderer Relevanz für die neuropsychologisch fundierte diagnostische und therapeutische Arbeit mit Kindern und Jugendlichen sind. Der Beitrag versteht sich somit primär als Anregung, intensiver und komplexer über die diagnostischen und therapeutischen Möglichkeiten in Bezug auf emotionale Themen in der Arbeit mit Kindern und Jugendlichen nachzudenken.
