Zusammenfassung
Wer Fußball liebt oder selbst gespielt hat, der weiß, wie einfach dieses Spiel ist: zwei Mannschaften zu je elf Spielern, ein Ball und das alles verbindende Ziel, mehr Tore als der Gegner zu schießen. Gerade diese Einfachheit ist einer der Hauptgründe, warum sich dieser Sport auf der ganzen Welt größter Beliebtheit erfreut. Und obwohl die Spielregeln in drei Zeilen erklärt sind – vielleicht auch gerade deshalb – entfaltet er eine unerreichte Faszination. Wir spielen nicht nur selbst gerne, sondern schauen auch anderen dabei zu, wir fachsimpeln über Spielphilosophien und erfreuen uns an der ganz eigenen Ästhetik, die entsteht, wenn 22 Spieler oder Spielerinnen dem runden Leder hinterherjagen. Nicht umsonst beschäftigt die Menschen schon seit der Erfindung dieses Spiels die Frage, was schöner Fußball ist und was nicht.
