Zusammenfassung
Für die Entstehung des Lebens sind Grundvoraussetzungen erforderlich, zu denen Gesteinsplaneten in einem Sonnensystem gehören, die in der bewohnbaren Zone im richtigen Abstand zur Sonne liegen. Weiterhin ist eine Lage des Sonnensystems am Rande einer Galaxie notwendig. Für das Überleben organochemischer Verbindungen an der Erdoberfläche ist ein Magnetfeld zum Schutz vor dem Sonnenwind erforderlich. Günstig sind darüber hinaus eine Rotation des Planeten und ein begleitender Mond, der die Rotation stabilisiert, um einen ausgeglichenen Wärmehaushalt zu bekommen. Der Mond ist wenige Millionen Jahre nach der Erdentstehung durch Kollision der Erde mit einem Kleinplaneten entstanden. Mit der nachfolgenden Abkühlung bildeten sich ein Magnetfeld und eine erste Atmosphäre. Das Wasser entstand in der Spätphase des Dauerbombardements durch Meteoriten aus dem äußeren Bereich des Planetensystems.
