Zusammenfassung
Warum sind Wolken weiß, und warum verfärben sich Himmel und Sonne bei Auf- oder Untergang? Warum verursachen Vulkanausbrüche solch prächtige Farbspektakel am Himmel? Was bestimmt die Sichtweite, und warum kann man durch Regenschauer weiter hindurchsehen als durch die sie erzeugenden Wolken? Die Beantwortung dieser Fragen führt zu einer allgemeineren Diskussion der Lichtstreuung an den Bestandteilen der Atmosphäre. Neben der Rayleighstreuung muss insbesondere die Mie-Streuung mit ihren charakteristischen Eigenschaften behandelt werden.
