Abstract
Kwestia przywództwa jest dziś popularnym zagadnieniem nie tylko w życiu nowoczesnych firm, ale również w ogólnie pojętym społeczeństwie. Pojęcie przywództwa pojawia się na wszystkich kontynentach i obejmuje wszystkie sfery życia: edukację, sport, naukę, sztukę, czy nawet relacje rodzinne. Firmy i przedsiębiorstwa starają się być liderami na rynku, partie polityczne pokładają nadzieje w nowych, charyzmatycznych liderach, szefowie demokratycznych państw i silni dyktatorzy pochopnie są określani przez dziennikarzy mianem „przywódców“. Całe państwa czy narody chętnie ogłosiłyby się przywódcami świata.
Wiele nauk społecznych bada zagadnienie przywództwa, a każda z nich usiłuje zrozumieć je na swój własny sposób. Tradycyjnie rzecz ujmując, przywódca czy lider powinien być tym członkiem zespołu, który jako pierwszy stawia czoła zadaniu, przygotowuje i organizuje działania pozostałych. Ponadto przywódcy wykazują się większym poświęceniem, zaangażowaniem, a także wywierają większy wpływ na podejmowanie decyzji. Pozostali członkowie zespołu uznają ich rolę jako liderów, tj. budują relacje z góry zakładające podporządkowanie się przywódcy.
