Zusammenfassung
Neben den bekannten affektiven Symptomen (z. B. gedrückte Stimmung, Anhedonie) sind kognitive Störungen im Rahmen von unipolarer Depression vor allem in der akuten depressiven Phase bekannt, jedoch scheinen bei einem Teil der Erkrankten kognitive Störungen bis in die Remission zu persistieren. Auch im Rahmen einer unipolaren Depression können Einschränkungen in den Exekutivfunktionen, in verschiedenen Aufmerksamkeitsprozessen, in der Verarbeitungsgeschwindigkeit (Verlangsamung) sowie im Bereich Lernen und Gedächtnis auftreten, und zwar sowohl in akuten als auch in (teil-)remittierten Erkrankungsphasen. Dabei sind einige Teilleistungen möglicherweise stärker mit der akuten Erkrankungsphase assoziiert als andere. So scheinen z. B. Einschränkungen in der Verarbeitungsgeschwindigkeit stärker mit der Schwere der Depressivität verbunden zu sein als etwa Einschränkungen in den Exekutivfunktionen, welche eher zur Persistenz neigen, unabhängig vom Remissionsgrad. Wenige Untersuchungen gibt es bisher über den Zusammenhang mit der sozialen Kognition.
