Zusammenfassung
Die Magnetresonanztomographie (MRT) gilt heute als akkurates bildgebendes Verfahren in der Therapieplanung des Rektumkarzinoms. So können im Rahmen des präoperativen Stagings die Notwendigkeit einer neoadjuvanten Behandlung gestellt, durch lokale Ausdehnungsdiagnostik das lokale chirurgische Vorgehen geplant sowie prognostisch wichtige Informationen wie extramurale vaskuläre Invasion, muzinöse Tumoranteile oder eine Beteiligung der mesorektalen Faszie identifiziert werden. Die MRT ist dabei ein nichtinvasives Verfahren, welches auf die Anwendung ionisierender Strahlung verzichtet.
