Zusammenfassung
Die Gewalt, die Menschen mit Demenz erleben, hat viele Gesichter. Der Buchbeitrag stellt die fünf unterschiedlichen Arten der Gewalthandlungen vor, zeigt die aktuellen Prävalenzraten auf und befasst sich darüber hinaus mit Gewaltsituationen, in denen Menschen mit Demenz als „Täter“ in Erscheinung treten. Es werden primäre, sekundäre und tertiäre Ansätze der Gewaltprävention im Überblick präsentiert und der aktuelle Stand der Forschung zu ausgewählten Maßnahmen der Gewaltprävention im Allgemeinen und in Hinblick auf Menschen mit Demenz wird aufgezeigt. Dabei wird deutlich, dass die Prävention von Gewalthandlungen, in welche ältere Menschen und im speziellen Menschen mit Demenz involviert sind, bislang ein wenig erforschtes Thema ist. Es fehlen evidenzbasierte und effektive Maßnahmen, um Gewalthandlungen zu vermeiden, erfolgte Gewalthandlungen zu erfassen und Interventionen, die sich im Sinne einer tertiären Prävention an die Beteiligten von Gewaltsituationen richten.
