Abstract
Similarly to oxymethylene ethers, di-n-butylether (DBE) is also a very attractive oxygen containing candidate for diesel fuel alternative. The substance possesses properties, which make it suitable for diesel engine use. This fuel may also be produced from lignocellulosic biomass and in this case CO2 savings potentials by up to 70% can be expected, according to previous investigations. The investigated compound is injected into the combustion chamber both as a neat fuel and as a diesel-biofuel-blend with 20 vol% bio-ether share.
