Zusammenfassung
Aufgrund des demografischen Wandels wird der Anteil pflegebedürftiger Menschen in den nächsten Jahrzehnten stark zunehmen. In Prognosen zur Bevölkerungsentwicklung wird unter dem Stichwort „Pflegenotstand“ davon ausgegangen, dass sich in den nächsten zehn Jahren der Anteil der sehr alten Menschen bei sinkenden Geburtenzahlen zumindest verdoppelt. In dieser Altersgruppe wird ein sehr hoher Anteil der Menschen pflegebedürftig sein. Laut einer Studie der Bertelsmann-Stiftung (Rothgang et al. 2012) werden bis zum Jahr 2030 in Deutschland bis zu 500.000 Pflegekräfte fehlen.
