Zusammenfassung
Die Planungsdisziplin hat sich seit ihren Anfängen in den 1950er und 1960er Jahren zu einer in Forschung, Lehre und Praxis relevanten Wissenschaft entwickelt. Parallel zur Entwicklung der Stadt- und Raumplanung entwickelte sich auch das Nachdenken über Planung, sowohl innerhalb der räumlichen Planung als auch in anderen gesellschaftlichen Bereichen. Dies führte zur Herausbildung von Planungstheorien, deren Vermittlung heute im Curriculum aller Planungsstudiengänge verankert ist. Allerdings fehlte es bislang im deutschsprachigen Raum an einer aktuellen Bestandsaufnahme des internationalen planungstheoretischen Diskussionsstandes, die eine Grundlage bilden könnte für weiterführende Fachdiskurse.
