Zusammenfassung
Enzymkatalysierte Reaktionen sind nichts anderes als chemische Reaktionen, die durch einen Katalysator der Natur beschleunigt werden. Die Enzymkinetik beschreibt die Geschwindigkeit, mit der ein oder mehrere Substrate von einem Enzym zu einem oder mehreren Produkten umgesetzt werden. Die Thermodynamik gibt hierbei nur die Möglichkeit einer Reaktion an, und es ist unerheblich, ob diese Reaktion unkatalysiert abläuft oder mit einem chemischen oder biologischen Katalysator beschleunigt wird. Die grundsätzlichen Prinzipien der Bestimmung der kinetischen Parameter zur Beschreibung der Reaktionsgeschwindigkeit sowie mögliche Inhibierungsphänomene werden in diesem Kapitel im Detail vorgestellt.
