Verordnungsprofil Corticosteroide werden überwiegend als Glucocorticoide zur Entzündungshemmung und Immunsuppression eingesetzt, während die Hormonsubstitution mit dem Nebennierenrindenhormon Cortisol und dem Mineralocorticoid Fludrocortison nur einen kleinen Teil der Verordnungen betrifft. Bei den Glucocorticoiden hat die Verordnung von Prednisolon aufgrund seiner pharmakokinetischen und preislichen Vorteile 2017 weiter zugenommen, während Prednison und Methylprednisolon erneut weniger verordnet wurden.
