Zusammenfassung

Motivation erklärt die Richtung, Intensität und Ausdauer menschlichen Verhaltens. Aufseiten der Person werden Motive wirksam, in der Situation wirken Anreize auf die Motive, regen diese an und führen zu Verhalten. Motivation dient zur Erklärung von Leistung und Zufriedenheit von Mitarbeitern, wobei Zufriedenheit auch selbst motivierende Wirkungen hat. Arbeitszufriedenheit ist eine Einstellung zur Arbeit, die sich auf verschiedene Facetten der Arbeit bezieht. Zur Erklärung wurde die Zwei-Faktoren-Theorie entwickelt, die auf die große Bedeutung der Tätigkeitsinhalte für die Zufriedenheit und die Motivation verweist. Theorien der Arbeitsmotivation lassen sich in Inhalts- und Prozesstheorien unterscheiden. Zu den Inhaltstheorien zählen das Hierarchiemodell der Motive und die sozioanalytische Theorie. Prozesstheorien der Arbeitsmotivation umfassen drei Handlungsphasen: die Wahl von Handlungszielen, die Zielrealisierung und die Bewertung der Ergebnisse des Handelns.
