Zusammenfassung
Trotz des Wandels der Arbeitswelt nimmt die Erwerbsarbeit immer noch eine zentrale Stellung im Leben ein, denn sie dient der Sicherung des Lebensunterhaltes einer Person und ihrer Familie. Sie strukturiert die Zeit, schafft soziale Kontakte außerhalb der Familie, vermittelt soziale Teilhabe, sie gibt persönliche Identität und schafft sozialen Status und sorgt für eine psychophysische Aktivierung. Der objektive Karriereerfolg (Einkommen, Vorankommen) wird von der Intelligenz, dem Ehrgeiz, dem Ausmaß des Networking, der Macht des Mentors sowie der physischen Attraktivität der Berufstätigen positiv befördert und durch Übergewicht behindert. Eine erfolgreiche individuelle Anpassung an die veränderten beruflichen Bedingungen wird durch berufliche Zukunftsorientierung, hohe Selbstwirksamkeitserwartung, Optimismus und Selbstwertschätzung erleichtert. Die Konsequenzen der fortschreitenden Digitalisierung für die zukünftige Erwerbsarbeit werden beschrieben.
