Zusammenfassung

Die Grundlagen bilden die Anatomie der Tränenfunktionseinheit sowie die Histologie, welche für das Grundverständnis der physiologischen Funktionsweise, potenzieller Störfaktoren und resultierender pathophysiologischer Mechanismen relevant sind. Die regulierenden Mechanismen, die der physiologischen Funktionsweise von Tränenfilm, Tränendrüse und Meibomdrüsen zugrunde liegen, sind teils vielen Störfaktoren unterworfen. Immunologische Aspekte spielen eine bedeutende Rolle, deren gestörte Regelkreise zur Ausbildung einer Keratokonjunktivitis sicca führen können.
