Zusammenfassung
Blitze sind eine große Gefahr beim Bergsteigen. Bei Gewitter sollte man Grate und Gipfel sowie einzeln stehende Bäume meiden. Der Abstand zur Felswand sollte 1 m betragen (Kriechströme!). Metallische Gegenstände, z. B. Karabiner, Steigeisen, sollten in sicherer Distanz deponiert werden. Blitze folgen Wasserrinnen, nassen Seilen, Drahtseilen und Metallleitern, deshalb sollte man Distanz davon halten. Um einen Sturz zu verhindern, sollte man an einem trockenen Seil am Fels gesichert sein und einen Helm tragen. Stehen die Haare zu Berge, sollte man in eine Hockposition (Füße eng nebeneinander) gehen. Knisternde Laute und Elmsfeuer weisen auf einen unmittelbar bevorstehenden Blitzeinschlag hin. Das Retten von Blitzopfern im Gewitter kann gefährlich sein. Die Erstversorgung von Blitzopfern richtet sich nach den gültigen Reanimationsrichtlinien. Davon abweichend, können eine frühe Defibrillation bei Kammerflimmern oder eine prolongierte Beatmung bei isoliertem Atemstillstand lebensrettend sein.
